Tai Chi is an ancient martial art. And that starts the debate. Do the millions of practitioners world wide enjoy Tai Chi because of it martial nature or do they appreciate the art. If you said art you're not alone.
While we watch Tai Chi we are easily mesmerized by its beauty. The slow graceful movements. The unique postures that seem to imitate nature. Perhaps because Tai Chi borrows from nature it cannot help but be beautiful. The movements are also different somehow than one would expect. The whole body seems to be effortlessly moving together. And we begin to appreciate the stillness.
Our minds are taken to a different place as we watch. We feel like we could be watching a dance or listening to a concert. While we watch our mind and our bodies relax. Our spirit soars as well.
When potential new students visit the school they especially enjoy watching the form.
Is it any wonder that so many people love to actually practice Tai Chi. Instead of feeling like your running on a treadmill you feel like you're dancing. Or maybe your mind thinks its painting, or in a middle of the forest, or on a beach, or just gazing up at the stars.
Many practitioners enjoy painting with their hands and legs while they do the form. Some realize what is happening others just dig the beauty.
