Did you notice that the world is getting smaller. Or more specifically your space in this world is getting smaller. Anther way of viewing this is that you're sharing more and more of your space with others. A while back the phrase was - The World is Flat. (coined by Thomas L. Friedman in a best selling book by the same name). Flat and crowded.
Speaking of crowded. Once you had an office, then you had a cubical, now you have a shared desk space in a large room. Traffic to get to work is getting thicker. And if you commute by train, bus or bike - you've got more riders tagging along.
Is this because there's more people joining our wonderful globe daily ? Or is it because we all want to be in the same place simultaneously? Probably both. The world largest cities have become the most popular people magnets.
The size of our homes were once growing, but now the trend is square space shrinkage. Especially if your living in the city.
So what does this have to do with Tai Chi? Everything. Practicing Tai Chi requires limited space. Many people will practice Tai Chi in the park or in a school. But what if you don't have time to go to a park? What if you don't have a park to go to? What if you live in a home that does not have the room to really move around. No issue. You can perform a short form in very little space. In fact you can perform Tai Chi just moving in one spot. Another option- don't move at all. That's right you can get the benefits of this ancient art form without moving anything.
That is why Tai Chi is becoming hot again. While it has millions of practitioners already more are finding that in today's shrinking world it helps you to enlarge your space.
