WHAT IS ZUMBA GOLD?

Zumba Gold is created to emphasize the basics, and is so easy to follow that anyone any age can do it! It includes Merengue, Salsa, Cha Cha, Cumbia, Belly Dance, Flamenco, Tango, and Rock & Roll.

This Latin inspired dance program is specifically designed to take the exciting Latin and International dance rhythms created in the original Zumba Program. What stays the same are all the elements the Zumba Fitness-Party is known for: the zesty Latin music, like salsa, merengue, cumbia and reggaeton; the exhilarating, easy-to-follow moves; and the invigorating, party-like atmosphere. We have removed the jumps.

Zumba Gold is guaranteed to provide the participant with a safe and effective total body workout! It is fun, different, and great for the mind, body and soul!

 

WHO IS THE ZUMBA GOLD PARTICIPANT?

The Zumba Gold participant is not categorized by age alone. Some of the things that describe this group are the following:

  • These participants like to dance. They are the original "party animals".
  • These participants want to feel like they have exercised, without feeling pain or getting hurt.
  • This group may have medical issues or physical limitations that need to be addressed with modifications and understanding.
  • Regardless of age, these individuals celebrate just being alive.

 

GOOD TO KNOW BEFORE YOU ATTEND ANY OF OUR CLASSES.

How long is each class?

  • Each class is 45 minutes to 1 hour long.

What should I bring to class?

  • Most importantly bring your enthusiasm! Bring plenty of water and dress comfortably in workout type clothing and supportive sneakers.

What kind of shoes is ideal to wear to a Zumba class?

  • Don't show up with your high heels!!! :) Wear supportive sneakers! Zumba incorporates lots of lateral movements, front and back and pivoting. A sneaker with less "profile" is better because it will let you "slide" a little instead of stopping you in your tracks. If you are going shoe shopping look for dance sneakers that have a pivot circle at the bottom of the shoe by the balls of your feet.

I don't know how to dance - can I still take a Zumba class?

  • No experience necessary! The moves are simple and easy to pick up, especially if you come to class regularly.

What age groups come to class?

  • ALL AGES, ALL SHAPES ALL SIZES ETC. Remember that this is YOUR class and you can move as fast or slow as you feel is right for you. If you need to take a break - take a break. Listen to your body!

How many calories can I burn during a Zumba class?

  • That is totally up to you. The harder you work the more you burn. As a rule of thumb you can burn between 500-800 calories during one class.

 

OTHER TIPS:

  • Don't worry about counting steps or looking the same as the person next to you - JUST HAVE FUN!
  • Don't worry about the steps too much - you will pick them up over time - you can even bust your own moves!
